Open William’s room and get the chalice

Finish Preparing Coffee and serve Aldous first; Kate then opens William’s room. William is asleep on the sofa. Take the spoon from the table and his hat from behind the red curtain; the pocket watch attached to his coat shows 9:00. Set the grandfather clock to that time so the cat moves away from it.

Open the clock’s box by matching the family painting: gem upper left, pipe upper right, chalice lower right, skull lower left. Take the chalice. This is the Day 2 William chain; setting Aldous’s old alarm to 7:00 will not wake William.

Grow bird seed and obtain the feather

  1. Collect saliva

    Use the spoon on William’s mouth and put the saliva in the chalice.

  2. Plant the seed

    Take the seed from the puddle by the birdcage, plant it and water it with the saliva.

  3. Feed the parrot

    Shake the grown plant for bird seed, put the seed in the bird’s bowl and take the feather.

    Checkpoint: Feather ready for the toe puzzle.

Read the toes and wake him

Before the main toe interaction, you can use the feather on William’s nose and nipples until he says “Stop it.” That is the optional Tickling Mr. William achievement.

  1. Start with the big toe

    Use the feather on William’s big toe and watch the movement carefully.

  2. Follow the movement clue

    Count its wiggles and note whether it points/moves left or right. Move that many toe positions in the shown direction and tickle the resulting toe. Read the next movement and continue; do not reuse a fixed online toe-number string.

  3. Recover from a wrong input

    A short withdrawal of the foot indicates the sequence reset. Return to the big toe and read the clues again.

    Checkpoint: Completing the chain makes the foot withdraw fully and a key drop.

  4. Use the key and wake him

    Open the plant-side box for eye drops and a window knob. Put drops in both eyes and give William coffee, then his hat.

    Checkpoint: William is awake; breakfast continues with the egg.

Feed the egg and read the scroll

  1. Collect rainwater

    Fit the knob to the window and open it. Fill the chalice with rainwater and use it on the plant to obtain more bird seed.

  2. Serve the egg

    Feed the parrot, collect its egg and hand it to William. Use the spoon to crack it and feed him.

  3. Open and read the scroll

    Set the table’s dials to form the fish and open the scroll. Slide the pictures beneath William’s finger in this order: building, woman in rock, door with stairs, three timepieces, Book, elixir, haloed person.

    Checkpoint: Completed text fades. Finish the dialogue until William asks for the other two timepieces.

A wrong image passing under his finger resets that scroll attempt. After it finishes, continue to Day 2 Afternoon’s cleaning and hunting.
