Get Kate’s duster during the reception
After finishing Aldous’s morning routine, use the cloth on the dirt patches around the entrance, servant’s room and upstairs. Speak to Kate for the duster. The reception’s main task also asks you to dust the three family portraits.
For Small Repairs, return to the small picture in the servant’s room. Dusting Alexandra, Aldous and William’s portraits produces number clues for the candle cabinet; that is a different interaction.

Use the duster repeatedly on the servant-room picture until it falls and breaks.
Reassemble the fragments
At the table, move the broken pieces together so the picture and frame reconnect.

The original achievement guide asks for reassembly and does not require the cat’s glue here. Do not delay the reception looking for Day 3 repair materials. Continue with the three portrait clues, 243 candle box and chandelier in Day 1 Afternoon.
If you mean the Day 3 repair assignment
Unforeseen Maintenance happens on Day 3 Afternoon. It repairs the damaged chair, portraits/hunting picture, bust, balcony rail and stove cover. Get the chair pieces from the entrance table and pink-chair area, take glue from Rustie and recover the bust’s head. Fit and glue the broken objects, replace the damaged pictures, put the rail back and close the stove.
Before making Rustie cough up glue or leave, inspect the table leg beside it for the optional Checking the Furniture letter. Once the actual maintenance is complete, Kate opens the kitchen. Follow the later repair-to-dinner progression for that assignment.
